The value of learning beyond the classroom is that students are exposed to real learning situations and experience their learning through all their senses. The power of learning beyond the classroom is that the learning goes beyond curriculum connections to helping students make connections with the outside world and all its possibilities. Lave (1988) describes this as situated learning, which is when students acquire new knowledge through being involved in authentic activities in a collaborative and social environment.
